Mash-ups, not music but of the web variety, are hybrid web applications that take features from one application and mashed up with another. Here's the website in a nutshell. Flickr gives you five random pictures, of those five you pick one. Repeat the process four more times. When you have your five pictures chosen you then connect the pictures by writing a short story. An exercise like this could do wonders for students and ability to improve their imagination.
